S300 and ECU Questions
I have a 2000 Civic Si (if that is relevant) that I would like to install a Hondata S300 in. I have heard mixed feedback about using either a P28 or P72 ECU, for example: using a P72 ECU will allow me to retain my stock knock sensor but I was told that is useless when tuning a boosted vehicle with a built bottom end (forged pistons, rods, ect...) Can anyone verify this? Does anyone recommend a different ECU other than the two I just mentioned? Also, does using the PWM boost controller output require a hardware change on the Hondata system or can it simply be activated by turning it on in the SManager?
You can use any of the compatible OBD1 ecus from the list at http://www.hondata.com/ecus.html
The knock sensor will probably pick up a lot of noise that is not knock form the forged pistons.
Whichever ecu you use, must be socketed with special components to use the PWM output. The s300 itself does not need any changes.
