S200 box bad, I think.

Post by biotech0123 »

Ive had my hondata s200 for almost a year with no issues till last night. Last night I was going to go for a short ride, turned the ignition over to get the fuel pump flicker on and off. After a few key cycles the car starts but runs like the MAP sensor is unplugged, bout 15sec into this it returns to normal. I forgot to mention during all this I had a solid cell with the jumper in. After 5-6 times the car started normal so I figured its fine I'll just drive it around to see if anything happens. About 2 miles from the house I get a check engine light and the car dies, I pull over and cycle the key to see if it starts back up and it does the same thing as I mentioned at the start of the topic without starting. So I look down at the s200 box and its flashing slowly, with the key in the on part. So im guessing the box is shot cause today I looked in the inside of the ecu and everthing looks to be fine. Started it up this morning and it fired right up no problems till it got warm then it started runnning rich and did the same thing over again, soild cell with the hondata flashing....

Am I faced with buying another box??

This sounds more like a problem witht he interface cable or the socketing of the ecu. Who socketed this ecu for use with the s200?

One of the local dealers here in Arlington TX. I also tried unplugging the box and starting the car, it seemed fine but it wont let you rev past 2500 plus sometimes the IACV is making a buzzing noise and the car wont turn over. Im assuming that whatever is going on proble has something to do with set-up on the map. Cant figure out why the car has been running flawless for almost a year till now :? Thinking about up grading to the s300 to see if that cures the problem, kind of and expensive try.

i would suggest taking it to your dealer to have them look at it. a rev limit of 2500 is sensor error of somekind and not a problem with the interface box. Your ecu may have worn out or needs to be resoldered.

So if I decided to go ahead and get the s300 and a different ecu this should cure those problems? Im sure if it was mechanical I would be able to fix due to the ecu spiting out a code, not to mention me probing wires tracing back to the ecu for breaks finding nothing. This whole thing sucks, im going to see about getting another car due to this hopefully this week or weekend so I dont have to worry about my only ride to work being down

I thought I would share with the others if this same problem happens to them. I finally figured out what was wrong with the whole thing, comes to find out after getting the ECU re-socketed, a new cable, new chip, and interface box the ECU was the problem. Dont know what happened but I know the ECU is history causing me to buy another car in the mean time while the hatch is down and still down as I type this. Hope that this doesnt happen to anyone cause it sucks not being able to drive your car let me tell you, but it'll be up sometime before the month is over with :P.....
