O2
O2
Hello,
After struggling with my P1166 CEL for months, I think I finally got somewhere. Here's the short version of the issue.
1. I have a 2004 JDM K20a-R engine in my 2004 USDM Civic LX coupe.
2. I sent my PRC ECU to True-Honda for K-Pro installation.
3. Eddie said it couldn't be done on that PRC, so he claimed to sell me a PRB.
4. However, it turned out that he sold me a PND, and installed K-Pro on that.
5. After talking to Matt @ Hondata, he said that's the problem; I have the O2 sensor off of the RSX-S (and type-R), but the ECU is from an 02-04 base model RSX.
I'm trying to find the appropriate O2 sensor (from a base model RSX), but before I do, I have a couple questions:
1. Will it work exactly the same as having the PRB ECU and that O2 sensor (except reverse lockout)? Meaning, will the AFR be accurate since the engine is the K20a-R, and the O2 will be out of a base model RSX?
2. Can I use the O2 sensor out of an 02-04 Civic Si instead of the base model RSX from the same years?
Thank you preemptively.
Zach

According to Matt, this will fix the problem, since now the O2 sensor will match the PND ECU, and the RSX-S sensor didn't match it. I was just checking before I dished out $200 for that damn sensor.

Re: O2
All due respect. But Eddie is an idot considering i have my PRC ecu K-pro'ed *even though i wish i had a PRB ECU k-pro'ed but oh well lol..zach_04lx wrote: 2. I sent my PRC ECU to True-Honda for K-Pro installation.

But the first thing i would do is tell him to give you your PRC back K-pro
'ed and make him take the loss for being an idot.
But then i would check the wiring. and make sure you have no loose connections, and not worry about the ECU at this point.
and instead of dishing out 200 bucks. dish out a 100 from majestichonda.com and get a new O2 from an 06-07 si and splice the ends. it works.
I know that Eddie caused more damage then he fixed. I can't help any of that now. I've checked and rechecked my wiring, and it all seems completely fine. I just was checking to make sure that this will fix my problem; that it makes sense. To me, it does but I was looking for another opinion.

Alrighty. Today I got my O2 sensor from a 2004 Civic Si and wired it in. However, I still through the same CEL and get no AFR when datalogging. However, at least with this one I can disable P1167 (the heater) and then it throws P0134. At least now I can get my car to pass emissions (failed because of the CEL).
However, the underlying problem is still there. I still don't get any AFR, so the K-pro can't try to hit my target AFR. I really would like to see it running better than it is.
I've attached 2 screenshots of what I see in K-Manager. I don't have one uploaded from before I disable the P1167, but I've uploaded 2 from afterwards. One shows that I don't get the P0134 error for a little while, but the second image shows that it comes up later on (about a minute). In either case, I still don't have an AFR in the datalog.
Any other ideas? By the way, I've had the techs at Adrenaline Motorsports here in Saint Louis working on it. They did the entire installation and wiring. We've not been able to figure out what's wrong yet. I would really appreciate whatever help you can offer, and thank you for the help you've offered so far.

You should never need to disable the o2 sensor heater while in closed loop. The problem is that if the ECU is powered up with a misplaced o2 sensor connection, it can permanently damage the ECU.
You need to get the factory manuals (ETM is the best) and track all the o2 sensor wires from the ECU to the o2 sensor, using a multimeter. Don't use wire colors - each wire must be traced. The o2 sensor heater relay wiring must be identical to the RSX in every way. Identical. Don't use the early (2002/2003) factory manuals as they have errors in the o2 sensor heater wiring diagrams.

Hondata
So, I shouldn't go off of the wiring diagram on the Hondata site (using the relay) or the diagram from Xproductionz ( http://www.xproductionz.com/k20swap/k20swap.html )?
Also, at this point, can I be sure that it is the wiring?
