99-00 SI Owners - Need Suggestions

Post by WickedCivicNY »

A customer of mine has a 99-00 SI with a OBD2 to 1 conversion using Hondata ?

The IAT sensor is located on the intake help in with a rubber bung. He wants to keep his stock manifold etc. Where do you guys suggest I do with the sensor. My thinking is that drilling hole on the upper IC pipe the sensor could easily be blown out under boost.

Don't even put it in ? and zip tie it somewhere in the engine bay ? By doing this, will Hondata be thrown off since it reads IAT for some compensation parameters ?

Thanks

It needs to go in the intake pipe between the intercooler and engine (it can be either before or after the throttle body). Either drill the manifold and use the OBDI sensor, or just put the sensor in the charge pipe before the throttle body.

I've used a hole in the charge pipe with thick rubber tube with a groove cut in it, and then the sensor pushed in. It has worked to 18 psi. Measure the diameter of the sensor, calculate the area of the sensor, then measure the force needed to remove the sensor. Divide out the force by the area and you'll see how much boost you need to blow the sensor out.

You can get an early Intake Manifold for a JDM B16. The IAT mounts like the GSR and the Type-R (with two screws on the #1 runner) its the same manifold just a different place to mount it. That would make it a good time to put a Hondata Gasket in too!! I have one for sale if you would like.
a sleeved, girdled, forged, ported, back-cut, studded, and tuned, B20c5 makes a fine car to drive to the Super Market....
