motec 3 bar map settings?

Post by oscarmayer »

I know the S300 has a drop down menu to select it as a sensor and automatically sets it up, but I'm having some issues and require some assistance.

does someone please happen to know the exact specs for the motec 3 bar map sensor? meaning what numbers woudl need to manually be plugged in to ensure it is correct?

you can see the settings simply by selecting it from the list. If you want the calibration numbers you will need to download them from the motec website.

The default settings should work. If not, either the sensor is not the 3 bar (they all look the same and have the same number on them), or the sensor has been damaged, or the wiring to the sensor is faulty.

Start by using the default settings and then seeing what the voltage is with the key on / engine off. Assuming you live close to sea level, you should get 1.66V. If the voltage is high (3-5V), then the most common fault we see is in the wiring to the MAP sensor.

ok i tripple checked wiring and color coding and everything is perfect. (can post up the 96-96 map coloring for a honda if desired), I then connected the map and re-checked voltage. signal is showing 1.49-1.51V as it should with power on but motor not running.

so it comes down to one of 3 things.
1- software is jacked on my pc and needs reloading
2- some how parapaters giving in software defaults are inclrrect for my Motec map
3- map is jacked

Symptoms are as follows.
NOTHING. car runs perfectly normal, no issues adjsuting fuel timing and other settings. Only symption is that the sensor display is showing it to display 2-3psi boost at idle. Strange!

The common GM MAP sensor that many use can be given to the customer that asks for a 3BAR and the client is given something else. A friend of mine had to change out 3 identical MAP sensors to get on that actually worked right. Here is a site that helps u identify the many GM MAP sensors that are out there.

Good luck and I hope this helps.

Try checking the continuity in the wires,
I had the same issue a couple of weeks ago and the mapsignal wire was damaged.
