Coming from the VW/Audi world, I was excited about the tuning possibilities for my RSX-S. I was suprised and dismayed at complete lack of reflash dealers in the Central FL area. There are plenty of shops that will send my ECU off for me, but I can't have my car down for a week.
When I had my VW 1.8T, I could drive to a local shop give them 30 minutes and $500 to plug into the OBDII port and off I went with a new tune. Why doesn't Hondata use this method?
Why are there so few reflash dealers? Does nobody want to pony up for the soldering station and EPROM reader? Hondas are almost as plentiful here as sand, and Hondata is the leader in Honda tuning, so why do I have to drive to Crestview or Ft. Lauderdale to get a reflash while I wait?
Help!
Any direct port programming? Why so few reflash dealers?

What is so different about the ECU compared to other ECUs that are flashed on site? Do the Honda ECUs use standard EPROMs to store the maps etc? If I have my own desoldering station and Needham's reader, can I just buy the programmed chip or file from you and install it myself?Spunkster wrote:No dealer can reflash your ecu onsite. All reflashes must be sent to us. This is due to how the ecu must be reflashed.
I'm not trying to give you a hard time, I'm just trying to find the easiest way for me to get the reflash on my car. My only other option is to rent a car and send out the ECU myself.
