strange 3 bar Map sensor problem

Post by Importbanger_001 »

whats up guys,

I've got a problem with my car/S300 I started the car today and was driving around a little and suddenly the car shut off and wouldn't start there was a strong smell of fuel so I set the ignition on ON and started datalogging and when I start the car the map trace goes completely to the 28 psi boost collumn

I double checked my 3 bar mapsensor and it shows me the correct values
I checked the ground continuity and that was good
checked to see if there is 5v on the C pin
and checked the voltage at the B pin which showed me 1.6v

According to http://www.hondata.com/tech3barmap.html my mapsensor is correctly wired.

WHat do you guys suggest?
Is there a way that i can test out the sensor itself?

THanks

If the sensor was wired incorrectly for even a second it will damage the sensor. Try putting your stock sensor back in and see if it will start.

I already had this sensor for a while in my car and it was running good, the only change I made was swapping out the B16 and installed a new engine.

I will check the mapsensor wiring again today for continuity.

Tnx

Um, thats a fairly substantial change

Try the stock map sensor.

i've seem more 3 bar mapsensors going bad recently. don't know if something is blowing through the vac line and clogging the sensor or just sensor failing itself, but replacing the sensor fixes it.

try what was suggested...try the stock sensor on a map rescaled for it, or swap in a known good 3 bar to check. also, check your vac line from vac/boost source to the sensor as well as the wiring/connections.

Solved!

I checked my wires for continuity and the map signal wire was broken, I replaced that wire with a new wire and it's working now.

THanks.
