what about a oil pressure shut off?

Post by turbotypeR »

don't know if this is the right place for this, but wanted to suggest a new option for the s300. with highg horsepower hondas having oil pump failure on a regular basis now,i figured it would be nice if there was an option to shut the engine off when oil pressure dropped while at full throttle.just a suggestion.what do y'all think?

The ecu does not see oil pressure. The oil pressure sensor is wired only to the cluster.

How does the VTEC oil pressure switch in SManager work if the ECU doesn't read oil pressure at all?

different type of oil pressure sensor. It's not sensing various oil pressures, it is just a on or off input that detects if there is enough oil pressure to engage vtec.

How about an input that can be configured to kill the motor. Kind of like a boost cut but has to be manually configured externally.

You could us either the VTEC pressure or another on/off pressure switch to either disable VTEC or boost limit when the oil pressure drops (or both). You could get an oil pressure gauge with a built in warning light. You could also consider using 4340 steel oil pump gears rather than the stock sintered items.

how about an input from a pressure switch to kill the motor.i have a warning light, but a kill would be better.the vtec already cuts off when it breaks(i have done it more than a few times)and you definately no something has happened, just wanted to make a suggestion that would be more foolproof. people are using the aftermarket gears and still breaking them.once some one comes out with a gear set that won't break,it won't be as big of a deal.anyway,it was just a thought.it would definately be a plus over other systems
