type r reflash

Post by mikeythao »

hi, i no that this question has been asked alot now and i've searched for a while now and got different answer so i decided to ask u guys myself....i have an 03 rsx type s with cai and catbk exhaust, i'm getting type r cams and rbc/prc manifold (which would be best) and the type r reflash soon....now my question is that could i still run with an aftermarket header or will it be too lean?.......i've look at ur dyno sheets where u guys tested a k20a that has jrheader with cai, catback, and the reflash so i was just a little confuse on if i could use a rh or not.......if not will it be okay to just use a shorty header with a test pipe or can i get rh and weld an cat on the end.....now to my second question.....i've been reading about the k20a2 engine and it says the safest is to just go up to 8600 rpm, i've look at ur type r reflash and it says that the rev limiter is raised to 8800 rpm so i was wondering if the k20a2 will be able to go that high or do i have to change my intake valvespring since as i was informed the k20a and k20a2 has the same exhaust valvespring.....thanx alot and if theres anything wrong with my setup than please let me no thanx...

We would recommend the KPro for the level of modification you are looking at.

Any of the valve spring combinations will go to 9000 rpm - the single valve springs were to help limit damage from mis-shifts.

yes, i no that i should just get the k pro but im those type of guy that like to know there car a step by step so thats y i dont want kpro yet......like i was thinking.......i want the type r reflash so i will need the intake manifold, cams and cai no matter wat......i was thinking since this reflash is for like a k20a then doesn't it kind of need a better header since the k20a header flows better than the k20a2......i already have a catback so i was just wondering will it be okay to put a shorty header with test pipe or high flow cat on or will it just going to be even too lean with the header....thanx....
