tuning K-Pro

Post by Mr Aryan »

Hi all,
i've got Euro CTR...
Is it important to fully tune the KPro? if i don't have any knocking with the dyno tuned CTR cal. or any problem in cruising, should i just go for full throttle tuning?
i'm only able to dyno tune my CTR on dynojet which is the only we have in our country.
as you all know dynojets only can dyno full throttle, cannot do part throttle tuning.
thanks in advance...

The CTR has a k20c right? If I remember correctly, it's nealy identical to the k20a2. If this is the case, no part throttle tuning should really be needed except for pulling ignition if it knocks at light load. the fuel curves should be fine I would imagine. It all depends on the base map's accuracy.

I never tune part throttle much outside of removing ignition for knock in the 2k - 4k rpm range. The only time I've had to modify the part throttle fuel columns much was when dialing in a turbo setup where the base map fuel curves were the right shape, but just off by good percent all across the board, which was very easy to fix.

Remember that part throttle should be tuned to make closed loop work best -- you have a lot of room for error in them. In general, I like to see a few percent negative in short or long term fuel trim so if I did lose closed loop, the engine would run a bit rich at cruise if anything.

well euro CTR got the K20A2 motor, but it is different than the RSX-S...

but that explains a lot...
i've driven my car for like 1 hour cruising, different throttle %, even 100%and all were fine... but i thought since i got the chance to tune full throttle, why not!?

thanks again
