04 Civic, Rev hard turbo kit, K pro... Super lean.

Post by aztuner »

Hope someone can help me. I have tuned many S and K ECU's with great results. This latest one is not going so well so I am turning to the forums for help. The company that sold the turbo kit to this customer had been of no help.

04 Civic K20A
Rev hard turbo kit -GT30R
Upgraded fuel pump
Mototron 630cc injectors,
K ECU.

This customer purchased this kit from Turbo-kits.com. You can see a full listing of what he got in that kit on that page.

On stock mapping the car starts and runs. I pulled it on the dyno and loaded the Base calibration that I had for a previous car with 550's. No start. Loaded the mototron base file. No start. Loaded the greddy file, No start.. Loaded the stock file, Start and idle. Trims -10.. Rich. Hmmm. Not that rich! This thing should have a hard time running with 630CC injectors on a stock file!

Then I loaded the greddy file again. No start, Set injector to 500, then 400 and she started. Trims Positve. Real lean.. Set the injector to 380.. Better.. Solid idle.. Drove on dyno while watching AEM and Dyno AFR meter.. WOT as boost crosses 2 psi the car runs to 17 to 1 and I have to let out of it. Attempted to tune Fuel map. Even with MAX values the car ran lean past 2 psi of boost. I have tried 5 base files. In other words. No amount of mapping or changes in the Hondata computer will allow this car to run richer then 17 to 1 on boost.

I then had the Mechanics check the entire install. No issues where found. Everything is on and tight. Injectors say Mototron on them even though they act like stockers!

Recap:

Tried Many base calibrations including my own

car wont even start unless the INjector size is 400 or under and then its lean.

Car is real lean on boost.

Car idles solid and runs great up to 2 psi. However, I have to set the Injector size to 300-400 to get it to do so.

No amount of fuel map tuning will gain enrichment.

We feel the install is solid. No leaks or hoses off ect.

Any ideas? I am about to pull the injectors and have them flow tested as they really seem like they are 300CC range or less.

Thank you for the help

Certainly sounds like those injectors are to blame. You might want to make sure they're not low impedance as well. My gut reaction would be to throw some 650cc RCs in there to see what happens.
