Help! IAT question

Post by MugenSi99 »

hey everyone!! I'm going to be turbo'ing my car soon.... I have hondata s300 installed and everything.. I drive a 99 civic Si with the stock b16a2... well I have a dumb question...

Where does the Intake Air Temp. sensor go when I install the turbo?

does it go to the turbo inlet tube after the filter? or on the charge pipes?

I have asked many ppl and nobody knows... could anyone help me out?? Thanks in advance!!

It should be as close to the intake ports as possible...the intake manifold, the runners or lastly the charge pipe.

thanks!! you just helped me out GREATLY!! I wasn't sure if the boost would affect it or not... but I have been reading where iat temps are measured, so I didn't think it went on the turbo inlet tube... Thanks again for the info!

My prelude came stock with an IAT sensor and its located on the intake manifold, opposite side from the throttle. Maybe that'll help??

Starting in 1996, Honda moved the IAT sensor on the Civics (Integras too, I think) from the intake manifold to the intake tube between the airbox and the throttle body. If you are using Hondata S300 (or any other form of Hondata OBD1 engine management) the ECU is expecting the IAT to be in the vicinity of the OEM OBD1 location (intake manifold). Its not that the ECU will kick a code if its in the wrong spot, but the air temperature correction parameters built into the ECU software are configured for that location.

It'll just work better if the IAT is in the intake manifold. If its not there, move it. If there's no holes, make some.

FYI - All 94-2001 Integras have the IAT sensor in the Intake Manifold.
