Cannot get car to even run with S300!!!

Post by Tchleung »

Okay my S300 arriveed today, I have had my desodered P72 ECU waiting for a lnog time. I soder it all today, setup a quick basemap and goto start the car, the car baresly starts, when it deos, the engine speed is jumping erradicly(sp?) and missing badly and just acts like running an FI car without an ECU. I ahve to ahve my foot on the gas about 75% jsut to get it to stay running and that makes me idle around 5" vacuum. wideband is jsut all over the place. So I'm stumped, I change optinos around in the smanager with no luck. I go voer all my sodering job. no luck. so I throw the ECU into another OBD1 car with a stock GSR tune and it starts it perfectly and idles no problem! So taht elimantes it being the ECU, or Hondata itself. Now my car runs PERFECT on a P28 ECU with Crome. I covnerted from OBD0 to OBD1 and ahve been running on Crome until my hondata arrived, but now I can get it to work on my car!

I'm running GSR motor with GM 3 bar sensor, part# 12223861 and 750cc injectors. I thought maybe it didn't like my map sensor so I tried all kind of map styles. and same thing. hard;ly runs. I even tried a stock GSR file. same thing, but you can tell it's flooding it trying to run the 750's. but it idels no worse on stock tune vs 750 tune it's idlnig taht bad.

Please help

Did you change the injector size in fuel trim? Also what kind of car is it you're running it on?

Yes I tried all sorts of different fuel inejctor trims. The car runs so bad that it doesn't run any worse weather I avhe it running on stock fuel trims or 1000+ fuel trims. that's how bad it is. It's definantly not idlnig bad because of fuel injector sizing.

This is on a 90 Integra covnerted to OBD1. as I rpeviosuly said, I've been running the car on a OBD1 ecu tuned for 750's for abotu a week now no problem. i drove the car in. parked it. swapped ecu's. no go horus alter I put old OBD1 ecu back in to make sure it's still good. started right up without a blip of the gas pedal.

My problem I figured out was a main relay that i had to hit the dash to get it to kick on. But after I got that fixed I tried to start my car and it wouldn't start either. What I didn't realize is that on crome and the older hondata systems when you change injector size, that it automatically changed fuel trim and post start up. I had to set them manually on the s300. I attached a file to this post to show you what I mean. Then I can't remember if I had to add or subtract about 10% fuel to get it to idle smoothly.

In my opinion your parameters/values are all wrong .. Your trimming 100% and adjusting post start fuel 75%..

I was just looking through the help files before I seen your post and you are correct. This is adding 100% more fuel than what I already have. HOLY SHIT!!! But its the only way I could get the car to run, and it ran damn near perfect (Shrug)

Hrm well I know it's the the main relay for sure, it's brand new. Plus if it was shortig out, you'd think it would act like taht on CROME on my Oother ECU which I swapped back in to make sure it wasn't the car.

Mine didn't act up on crome....that was the weird thing. And crome didnt mind that my tps wires were mixed up either. But the s300 was going nuts over those 2 things.

It is obviously your calibration. Seems like a simple fix to me, or am I overlooking something? Also, if your TPS wires were mixed up, how could the car have ever run right, regardless of EMS?

You do not need the TPS hooked up for the car to run well. I've been running without TPS for over 2 years ande driveabiltiy is fine even voer 400whp tuens are perfect. I now ahve it hooked back up for OBD1 And wires are perfect. stock wiring.

Can anyone make me a basemap for 2.0L GSR with 750cc injectors, GM 3 bar? Just to see if it's my tune.

No, you don't need the TPS hooked up for the car to RUN. If you want it to RUN WELL, you need to hook it up correctly. Just because you are foolish enough to do that explains why you can't get your car to run very well.

My advice, not that you will take it, is to take your car to a competent tuner.

Oh, and the way to get a basemap is to follow the instructions:

File, New, choose USDM P72 map, rescale injectors, basemap done.

I swear I'm not trying to be a total ass, only partially.

You do need to have everything hooked up correctly.

You can create a basemap by going to File, New and selsecting a calibration then changing the injector size. YOu will then need to begin tuning using a wideband and a dyno.
