In order to use hondata....

Post by needanew1 »

What do i need in order to use hondata? I have a 97 JDM itr engine. Is hondata something i would buy and take to my tuner and have them handle it? Im not familiar with tuning AT ALL, ive never been around/seen/tuned myself anything in my life. Whats an advantage of using hondata opposed to AEM EMS?

To use a Hondata system, you will need to use a compatible OBD1 ecu from the list at http://www.hondata.com/ecus.html. You can then use the Hondata s100, s200 or s300 depending on what options you want. I would recommend the s300. If you are unfamiliar with tuning you will need to take it to a dyno to have it properly tuned on the dyno.

So say if i bought a pre-chipped and socketed P28 obd1 ecu, and hondata s300, the hondata will plug into the the p28 ecu and then the p28 ecu will be hooked up to my factory ecu via conversion harness and all of that stuff will be installed in my car then ready to be taken to the dyno to get tuned? also if i buy s300 can i install it myself? or is it something that would take a little bit of specialty skill to do?

The ecu will have to be socketed for use with an s300. You should have someone qualified do the socketing, or send the ecu to Hondata to have it done properly. over 90% of all problems are from improper socketing.
