installation problem.. no cable from ECU to hondata

Post by baonest1 »

i read somewhere that on a Stage 3 hondata S200 that if the hondata box is not connected to the ECU the car wont run correctly. i currently have a check engine light on and i have a hondata 3 p28 ECU. but i dont have the ribbon cable that runs from the ECU to the hondata. im getting it soon, but does this explain the check engine light and not being able to rev above 3K rpm.

thanx

yes. if the interface box is not connected you will have a constant CEL and will not be able to go over 3200 rpm

Just so people have a better understanding of the Hondata Blue Box. It is a hardware lock. ROMs made with Hondata software have a different syntax than other stock ROM images. If you have an aftermarket chip designed to run off the ECU alone then simply disconnecting the Hondata Blue Box will allow you to run that chip but without the Blue Box the Hondata designed Roms will not run. From what I've seen (Besides the (C) Hondata 2000 line at the end of the roms) then Hondata designed data seems to be bit fliped. I'm looking into it in more depth. In addition the Blue box acts as an interface for the Hondata clutch switch, set button and datalogger.
