service connector question

Post by oscarmayer »

I am running a dual stage manual boost controller. I wired in the controller to run a blinking light to tell me when I'm in high boost incase it was accidently left on and I'm runing pump gas. (high is for race)

if the ground from that light got accidently se tto short the service connector (jsut light shoritng it at the plug) and the cel comes on like it was set for service, does this cause the ecu not to be able to adjsut the timing and/or other variables on the ecu? Normally you woudl not touch the service connector due to it's all hondata programable, but this was an accidental case and I'm wondering about it. it could be the answer to my problem I've been having if it does effect it.

Shorting the service connector just stabilises the ignition at idle in order to make it easier to set the timing. This is not going to cause any long terms problems, assuming that the check engine light went out once you un-shorted the SCS.

the problem is everytime I flip the switch to run on high boost it shorts the service conector. will this kepe the hondata form adjsuting the timing under boost if this is shorted when I flip the swicth to run high boost.

if you want the light to appear on the gauge cluster. Why not wire a light to something less important. such as the Seatbelt light.

The service connector does not affect timing apart from at idle. The next release will be around the beginning of September.

I hear what your telling me, but it resolved my issues desipte what it's not or is supposed to only do. I can't tell you why, but i can confirm that once the connector was removed from being shorted everything worked perfectly. timming maps were followed and the car showed large improvement in performance. I still need to dyno it, but I am more than certain it will confirm my butt-dyno assumptions.
