Okay -- I am hooking up water/methanol injection and determined, from lots of searching on clubrsx, that you're suposed to indeed cut the wires going to the ecu, not patch in. Is this correct? I certianly hope so, I already cut and insulated off the other side and crimped on my input and output leads to the E16 and E21.
Second, what is the effect of cutting these wires on the systems that used those pins to begin with -- the evap stuff, power steering system, the vtec oil pressure sensor, etc. Do those systems continue to run with those disconnected or will things like odbII have to be turned off or will certian features like vtec stop working?
I couldn't find any answers in the documentation or searches.

I remember seeing oside jimc saying that using E20 as an output had issues because it went to ground on ecu reset (like when uploading a calibration) and would potentially spray when you don't expect it or would want it. This is one of the reasons that I didn't use E20, however, seeing as how it's water/methanol -- the worst it would do is quench combustion or bog where as with nitrous it could have more pronounced concequences.Spunkster wrote:Yes, you must cut the wires as you have done, and whatever they went to will no longer be functioning. Is the power steering pump pressure sensor used by the ecu / will throw a cel being gone? I can disable the odbII stuff for the evap ones but I don't know the effects of E16 power steering pressure being cut -- it sounds like it is potentially just a diagnostic goodie.

Well, after some review and testing, it seems that E16 is documented incorrectly, or something else strange is happening. When I have E16 selected as the input, it shows nitrous 1 as armed in sensors UNTIL you ground e16, at which point it shows disarmed. If I check the reverse input logic checkbox and upload that calibration, it's default disarmed and armed when I ground e16. I've doublechecked that I am indeed applying ground to it -- it's just plain backwards from what's documented.

Awesome. Good to know I'm not losing my mind. Part of troubleshooting this was really frustrating as well because my arm switch went bad as well -- AFTER I had tested it it with a meter. Heh... gotta love modding ;).
Additionally, as a data point for those who are doing this as well, using E16 as an arming input modifies the way idle works. It seems to be used by the ecu originally to increase idle during power steering use. When I armed the idle would fluxuate a bit for a second. Didn't seem to cause any issues other than being entertaining.
