EDM D16A/Z 110hp

Post by Motorvations EDM »

Hello,

Got a customer with the above mentioned car. To check if I can work with Hondata, I connected an s300 and chose both the D15 and D16 base roms. Engine runs, but CEL 9 (Cylinder sensor) comes up.

Same I had with S300 built in a US P72J on a EDM Prelude H22A JDM Type S engine and s300 base H22 map.
When the EDM P13 ECU is connected, CEL goes away.

Any advice would be greatly welcome.

Thanks,

Andreas

You will have to be much more specific as I have no idea what vehicle you are talking about. You also say you have an s300 in a US p72J...this is completely contradictory...the p72j is a jdm ecu.

Complete details of the car in question would be most helpful:
Year:
Make:
Model:
Engine:

@Spunkster,

Apologies for coming back so late.

The error with the D-Series has been resolved. I found a wiring problem in the OBD1 distributor which was connected by the customer. Now it's fixed, but I need your help with the H22 and S300.

Yes you are right, that was misunderstanding. Sorry for my bad English.
What I mean is that the customer has a P72J from the States, especially to run with s300. Of course it is a Japanese ECU, it does also have the knock board inside.

Car is a Prelude VTEC. Do not know the exact year, customer is on holiday and cannot get hold of him now. However this should be BB8 or 9 chassis.
He imported a Prelude TypeS engine from Japan and ran it with the EDM P13 ECU with no MIL code. Hope this information helps you further.

Another question, do you think there is no way running it with a P30 and keeping the secondary intake runner function?

Many thanks in advance.

A P72J is not from the states. Are you using an s300 or an s300J? Is the ECU case rectangular or square?

You will need to check the wiring diagrams against other preludes to make sure that there have not been any undocumented changes for the cyl wires.

This is a Japanese P72J. Apologies if I missed something but is there a difference in the s300 installation of P72 or P72J?
If yes, then I am sure that my soldering guy was not aware of anything and installed it like in a P72.
If there is no difference, would you be able to supply the pin out of the P72J?
I can get the wiring harness pin out but have no chance regarding any JDM or USDM ecu.

Kindest regards,

Andreas

You cannot use an s300 in a JDM ecu.

Starting to get confused too.
After several times when I asked the Prelude owner regarding the ECU, he sent me a mail a minute ago that on the side sticker there it says P72 A0M, which should be an US ECU, so it is NOT a JDM ECU. It does also have a knock board, but I thought they are only on JDM ECU's
So the final status, it seems we have a US ECU with a US s300 and code 9. With a stock ECU no code.

Sorry for the confusion and thanks in advance for any idea.
If you want me to send you a picture of the ecu, pls let me know.

Remove J1 on the ECU and see if you still get a code. If so, it is the ECU.
