s300 P72 ECU, datasystems vtc810 vtec controller, advice

Post by mataos »

Hi,
The first and second photos are my P13 ECU in a Prelude si vtec JDM (with a harness for the vtec controller (data systems VTC-810) as you can see it uses 4 connectors.

Thhe photo below is of a P72 Hondata s300 ECU with only 3 sockets, My question is will it work if I remove the VTEC controller and harness(as there will be nowhere to plug it in), or how do I use the P72 ECU and the Vtec controller?

Thanks, Mat

Is the car automatic or manual?

It should work, but you will have to determine what those additional wires on the smaller plug are for.

The additional wires in the smaller plug are for the Vtec controller, so I wont be able to use it with the P72 ECU?

That does not make sense...a stock ecu will not have an extra plug for a vtec controller.

Hi,
I have now removed the Vtec controller and its loom, with all that out of the way I can see that the small plug is part of the main ECU loom and not the Vtec controller loom,

With the P72 s300 installed (no socket to plug this small plug) I get the TCS light and no rev counter (basic prelude calibration loaded), so my question, is this plug for the TCS and the rev counter, and how can I connect it to the P72?

This is how I think the pins are numbered (but could be wrong)
1 3 5 7 9 11
2 4 6 8 10 12

1 -
3 -
2 Blue, (bottom left)
4-
5 Green / Yellow stripe
6 -
7 Green / White stripe
8 -
9 -
10 -
11 Green / Red stripe
12 -

Thanks again,
Mat

This is not something we are familiar with. You may not be able to run a Hondata on this vehicle without some side efects or rewiring.

Hi, The ECU runs the car fine, the only problem I have now is that my rev counter does not work! (the TCS light is on, but I?m not worried about that as I have removed the ABS anyway so no TCS)

So I need to identify what wires in the C plug are for the rev counter and rewire it up to the P72 ECU,

Any one know what colour wires or what pins are for the rev counter on the P72?

Thanks, Mat
