The Honda Insight has a 3 cylinder VTEC engine. It isn't bad for autocross racing but there is a dead zone between the low-end battery/electric assist and running the engine only at the high-end (over 4000). My understanding is that VTEC kicks in at between 3500 and 4000. What are the chances of reprogramming this engine to lower the the VTEC kick-in point. What are the dangers and potential losses at the high end and for efficiency? And might it be selectable for racing vs daily driving?
