Basically, once I install the new software, it doesn't work at all, it like kills any hope for my laptop to read the ECU unless I do a factory reset to illiminate all drivers and registry entries. Then I can install the old software and at least datalog.
Latest I can get working is the one that came with my ECU (also the only other version I have) 1.1.5
Ah, I see. So you had 1.2.1.5 working on your laptop, then tried to upgrade to 1.2.1.7 and now you have the USB issue, correct?
Similar situation to me, but like I said, my laptops (both) see the KPro as "Hondata K-Series ECU", then the driver installation process fails citing no appropriate software found. Frustrating.
So you also have NOT tried flattening your laptop and reinstalling everything from the OS up, correct?
I suspect that if I flattened my laptops that I'd get everything working. But that is more work than I can bear at the moment, and it's not worth it since I'm now fully tuned and car is running perfectly.
Again, if the Hondata techs could advise how to ensure with 100% certainty that every last KManager file and registry entry is removed (they should know, since they know exactly what the KManager installer does), then I believe I/we can get the latest KManager working too, as it would be equivalent to installing on a virgin machine (absolutely no traces of KManager).
Can I ask how you tried to upgrade from your working 1.2.1.5 to the non-working version? Did you do (correctly) do the "Update" process and allow the newer version to install on top of the working version? Or did you do what I did and try to uninstall the old version first (via Add/Remove Programs), then install the new one?
According to Hondata, the latter approach is problematic. I suppose it results in some versioning issues with driver and/or DLL files.
