Looking for info on FTS

Post by SpadeMotorsports »

Anyone have any info on how to wire factory clutch switch for use with full throttle shift option?

I realize that you must wire it into one of the listed inputs, but more specifics on how to do this would be helpful.

Thanks

All you have to do is put one wire from ground to the clutch switch, then from the other side of the switch put another wire going to one of the input selection. For instance, I cut my P/S wire and put the sclutch switch wire in it's place. And yes the factory cruise control switch can work.

Did you ground to the chassis or a ground wire in the ECU?

I connect mine from ground to the service connector, did not have to cut anything else but the cruise control switch. it works perfect, but to use you have to select invert in the smanager

You can 't use it for both. To allow cruise control to work, you will need to just short the 2 original wires for the switch together.

Sorry, worded question wrong.....

I was trying to ask how I would wire up my OEM clutch switch to the cruise control input on the ecu.

cut the Oem cruise control switch wire, connect one wire to chassis ground, and connect the other to the input of your choice,( the managers parameters ftl/fts has the options of inputs,) I chose the service connector because it was the easiest one to find, all you have to make sure on that is that you use the input side not the ground(use a multimeter I forgot which color it was) the only problem with using this option is that your CEL will always be on, but its just working like when you do a code check, no problem. goes out when you press clutch. if you are annoyed by your CEL just install a toggle switch inline with the wire so you can cut it off.

So where does the clutch switch come in to play?
Is this using the cruise control button instead of a clutch switch?

Man.... can re-wire entire motor, but cannot understand this. I must be getting too old.

Thanks for help.

no you dont use the cruse button, you use the cruse control clutch switch. the clutch switch works like this, notice when you are in cruise control and you step on the clutch it dissengages the cruise control?
its the same switch you use for the fts/ftl but you have to wire it to the ecu.so that means you wont have it for cruse control anymore
when you select the fts/ftl function it is activated by pressing the clutch pedal, and deactivated when you release it.
for example you lined up at the staging lanes, depress the clutch pedal and floor the throttle if you set your launch limit a 6500rpm it will not go over that while the clutch is depressed. I build 11 psi of boost while doing this on a sc61 hence the anti lag, same thing with the fts everytime you shit the rpm will drop to a preset value to keep your turbo spooling, I had mine at 7600rpm and main rev limit at 8900rpm. so everythime I shift the revs only drop to 7600rpm. so you dont have to let off the throttle.

Ahhh. Gotcha. Well after crawling under the dash, I figured out what you were talking about. I have 2 switchs, one that is activated when clutch is completely depressed and one when clutch is completely let out. Which one is which?

Thanks for all the info rudebwoy.
