06 tsx cams

Post by eurofixer »

I know I read somewhere that the 06 tsx cams are the best factory honda k-series cams out right now, didn't Hondata say that somewhere? Thanks for the help I searched every sight I could think of, I really want to do something out of the ordinary and can pick them up for about $450 for the pair.

what engine are you moding? the '06 cams are hotter than the older tsx cams along with other improvements. if that's what you're talking about. not sure if newer cams in older engine would be compatible with older reflash? you will need for hondata to answer that one...

'06 tsx info from hondata ( http://www.hondata.com/reflash_tsx_06.html )

The 06 TSX has the following improvements:

Increased intake flow:

Intake valve + 1 mm oversize
Intake cam High lift lobe with 0.9 mm more lift and 12 degrees more duration
Throttle body increased from 60-64mm
Radius on some intake pipes increased from 70-80mm
Increased exhaust flow

Exhaust Head pipe increased from 60-65mm
Higher flow catalytic converter
Main (single) exhaust pipe increased from 54-57mm
Rear (twin) pipes increased in diameter from 42.5 to 45mm
Block improvements:

Additional air passages in crankcase for reduced pumping losses
Other

Stronger connecting rods
New crankshaft with more counterbalance weight
Revised pistons with more valve-piston clearance

You cannot swap the cams in a TSX as there is no way to tune them unless it is in an engine swap so that a K-Pro can be used. The K-Pro cannot be used with in a TSX due to compatibility issues.

this would actually be in a rsx. I have a k24a1 that I'm currently building the bottom end on and was going to put my a2 head on with the 06 tsx cams. Compression would be 12.5, already have k-pro. Any problems with valve clearance with the JE pistons with deeper reliefs cut in. I wouldn't think there would be considering there is no clearance problems with IPS cams and the TSX can't be hotter with more lift than the IPS. Thanks for the replies

You will have to measure everything to make sure that there are no clearance issues.
