there is something TERRIBLY wrong with my software..

Post by boredfast »

I thought that maybe the first time was just a flub with the code, so I downloaded Kmanager again and reinstalled it. I NEVER had any problems with the software until the latest revision that was released a little while ago.

Here's the story:
Friday night, finally finished my AF tuning for all cam angles... saved the calibration, and went up to my room to check out the datalog i just did. I have no idea what happened, but I think I was viewing a few tables and clicked some button (maybe parameters) and then Kmanager closed on me! (I had been taking away some fuel from a certain cam angle map).. anyways, I cut my losses, reinstall Kmanager and download the calibration (wearily) off my ECU.

checked the parameters, etc, the fuel tables .. all looked fine. Uploaded it to the car and got a nasty lean cut (thank god for lean protect). So I say EFF it, and revert back to an older calibration that I have saved..

Well I was just looking at the calibration today, making a few adjustments in the notes section .. hit ctrl +s to save, and Kmanager completely shut down on me again.... I knew it. I loaded it back up, tried to load up the calibration, but it had been changed in size to something ridiculously small like 60kb when normal calibrations are something around 500kb. Obviously it wouldnt load and now im pretty much stuck with another calibration i have had saved just incase something like this happened to me AGAIN. thank god for my anticipation..

anyways, someone HELP!!! at this rate i will seriously have to save two calibrations every time, and pray to god I dont flub one up or have Kmanager randomly die on me.

Calibrations are normally 40-60 kb in size.
It is likely that KManager doesn't like something you are typing in the notes field, and then crashing when you either save or reload.
If you can remember exactly what the notes were, post them here and we'll try to replicate the crash. Otherwise, keep the notes short and don't use any punctuation except for . and ,

oops you're right, they are generally 60kb in size..

the effed up calibrations are actually 1.5-2kb.

Sigh, it could be the notes. I will keep it to the minimum if possible...... I do use a lot of (-) dashes, (:) semicolons and spaces to keep things as easily readable as possible....

example

---------------------------
AF tune complete May 27, 2006 8:32P (space over until the edge, then put ----)

---------------------
new tune blah blah blah May 28, 2006 4:30P

and etc.. do you really think that is the problem? I did that on the previous revision and it was fine. what has changed?

edit: and maybe as an idea, could you somehow modify that notes section> it's extremely important to me to monitor the progress of the calibration because i have a real crappy memory and this is pretty much the only way I can track what I have done.

I'm fairly sure it is the length of the notes (the notes field is limited to 1024 characters). I'll fix the problem in the next version; in the meantime, limit the length of the notes.
