Water injection tuning basics / results

Post by Razathorn »

I am considering WI on my supercharged RSX. Many things I have read indicate that when you actually spray water, in addition to cooling the boost charge, due to the dramatic difference in the cooling properties of water vs fuel, you can actually run a much leaner A/F ratio. Does hondata have any guidelines or pointers / experience to offer in this area?

I realize that I would probably be able to add a few degrees of timing, and I may need to remove fuel to maintain the same A/F ratio if using methenol. I am curious if there would be safe power in leaning the mixture to say 12 - 12.5 :1 since the job of cooling the combustion chamber would be greatly offloaded on the water.
