Please help, need assistance

Post by SpeeDemoN »

I have just installed a Civic SI (EP3) ecu with Kpro in my base RSX, and have a problem.

After uploading the BASE RSX 91 Octane cal (or any other base rsx cal), the CEL light turns on, and I receive the following code:

P0661 Intake Manifold Runner Control Low Voltage

Now, the general consensus on ClubRSX is that Kpro is Kpro, it doesn't matter what ecu is used as long as the proper calibration is uploaded. I have had arguments with members specifically about this issue. Apparently I should not have any issues, and it should work properly, but in reality that is not the case.

Can anyone help me out on getting this to work? I have double and triple checked the parameters in the calibration, and secondary intake runners are enabled. Disabling OBDII eliminates the CEL, but that is not a solution.

The car runs very well (no knocks, decent acceleration) until 5000 rpm, where the manifold is supposed to switch to short runners and doesn't, and the power loss above 5K is extremely obvious.

Any help is appreciated...

K-Pro is K-Pro, but to operate the secondary runners and not receive the error you will need to use a PND ecu which is for the base model. You can load the Civic SI calibration and that will not generate the error, but you also will not have the secondary runners functioning.

Just because someone on Club RSX says something is true, does not make it true. The internet is full of misinformation given by non-experts who claim to be experts.

Thanks...

This is exactly what I thought, and more than 1 person fought me on this.

Now I'm stuck with a Kpro that won't work for me, great!

Sounds like a job for an automotive relay and the nitrous control panel or a type-s manifold and k20a3 ep3 calibration.

Correct me if I'm wrong hondata, but couldn't he just use the nitrous control panel to trigger a relay to switch the manifold runner some how -- I'm not familliar with the system.

The other option, and the one I would personally use, is to just get a type-s manifold, bracket, and throttle body and run an ep3 calibration with a good cleanup tune. I think you will make more top end power at least that way.

I'm somewhat in uncharted territory for myself, so I could be totally wrong.

If I can make it work using a nitrous control panel, I would be glad to do so. If someone could help me out with setting that up, it's something I would be willing to try...
