Kpro installation

Post by EvaUnit01 »

I recently emailed Matt and thought I would post here as well. I currently have the K-100 and will be buying a K-Pro in the next week or so. The problem is this, I am in Korea and can't really get to my car. So, here's my question: can I wait to install the USB drivers when I get back and still have my dad start the car every so often?

I don't fully follow the question, but without the k-pro installed you can start the car with the k100. You cannot upload a calibration to the ecu without installing the software or drivers on the laptop.

Will I be able to start the car with the Kpro board brand new and retain the calibration thats on it. I won't be able to load the drivers until the summer time.

all K-Pro's are shipped with a stock calibration for testing purposes. You may be able to start the car, but you should always upload the correct calibration to the ecu before attempting to drive.

OK, so I should send the calibration that I am using to my dealer and have him upload the calibration then (since I am overseas and have a copy of the calibration). Now when I come back from overseas, even though the calibration that I need is on there, should I reload the USB drivers since the dealer will be loading the calibration with his laptop and not mine?

I believe the answer is yes to your question. I think the key piece of information missing is that you're existing ecu has k100 and you're getting the k100 swapped with a kpro board on the same ecu by a hondata dealer -- am I correct? The existing calibration on the ecu should be retained when you change the daughter board as far as I know unless the hondata dealer uploads a fresh calibration when he swapps boards and cuts your usb hole.

Regardless of all of the above, I have the calibration from your tune that is currently in your k100 on my laptop. Once you get the k-pro, if you are worried that the calibration is gone, I can swing by your storage place and load it up and take it for a test drive to make sure everything is fine so the car is drivable if it needs to move again.
