Hondata intake manifold plastic gasket?

Post by Honda_TypeS_10 »

I tried to put this on but found out it's completely missing the section of the coolant passage to my cylinder head. If I were to put this one the coolant would just spill out on my 8th gen civic Si RBC-1 Cylinder head.

How exactly would I put this plastic gasket on if there's a 5mm gap there? What do I do?

Hi Spunkster,

I purchased this one for my 2010 8th Gen Civic Si

That is the correct gasket for an 8th Gen Civic SI.
Hi Spunkster,

But that's not what I'm asking. My question is how can I put this gasket on if there's a section of coolant on the cylinder head and the intake? In other words, by applying this gasket, there's no gasket around the channels where the coolant is and therefore there would be a massive leak when I bolt my intake manifold to my cylinder head.

What do I do?

Post a picture of the cylinder head
Okay so this is an extra RBC-1 cylinder head I had laying around luckily. I circled it in red to make absolutely sure this is from the 8th gen civic Si (2006-2011) K20z3 engine .

There's a missing section on the right circled in red below. This is where the coolant circulates with the intake manifold. By using this Hondata thermal gasket if a customer didn't know any better, this missing section gap would cause a catastrophic coolant leak.

My question is, how was this used in all these years by other people who purchased the Hondata thermal gasket for the K20Z3 without causing the coolant to spill out? What do I do?

You ordered the incorrect gasket, and we no longer have the gasket you need for this as they have been discontinued.

But you just said it was the correct gasket for the 8th gen civic si.

It was the correct gasket for what you originally said you ordered, but not for your application.

Spunkster, you're being cryptic. What do you mean originally I said I ordered? I said it was ordered for an 8th gen civic Si and you said it was the correct gasket. What does that have to do with application? It's the same thing. And again, what do I do now? What's the remedy since there's a gap there?

You didn't order for an 8th gen Civic, as that is a different gasket that is no longer available. Your order was for gasket that fits a 2002-2006 RSX, not for the K20z3 for the 06 Civic SI.

Okay I get it, that's my fault. But what can I do to fix this problem? If you don't know or if you want me to move on and get a proper thermal gasket for an 8th gen civic Si from somewhere else then say so. I've been trying to ask you what do I do and you've been avoiding that question like the plague.

We don't have the correct gasket as they are all discontinued, and we will not be making more.
