CEL comes on every now and then

Post by Boosted B6teen »

Ok, I have a s200 system on my practically stock b16. And my CEL has came on twice now (within the past 3 months). Both times I was driving back from school (around a 40-45 mile drive) and when I shut the car off and went to get my paper clip to bridge the diagnostic connector the light didnt not come back on. The car drives fine while the light is on and after) Any ideas of what it is or how I could read it? can you bridge the connection while the car is running? Thanks for any help guys, Brent

Don't turn the car off, and use either datalogging to read the code or jump the service check connector.

Ok, well it came on again on my trip back home from school. I bridged the conector while the car was running and the CEL just did little fast blinks, I counted up to about 21-22 maybe and then i gave up and unbridged it. I am used to long flashes and then fast flashes. So how do I read this thing next time it comes on? Should I just keep counting and see where it stops? Thanks Brent,

I have never messed with this before. I loaded the data logger stuff off the Hondata CD I got with the cable and stuff. Can you or someone else walk me through how to do this? Thanks for any help, Brent

You need to connect the serial cable to the laptop, if you do not have a serial port, then you will neeed a Keyspan USB to Serial adapter. THen determine what compport is being used on your laptop and make sure that com port is set in the Hondalogger software. Then you can begine datalogging.
