Questions about immobilizer with a 2003 Accord

Post by ejlaner »

Buying a 2003 Honda Accord from my friend, the car's original engine was swapped with a JDM K24A with no other modifications. I haven't driven it yet, but according to him, the car runs fine, but there is a steep torque drop-off because the engine isn't reaching its full power potential due to needing a tune. Online, I've read the Kpro4 is the best option for the 2003 Accord.

My main question is how easy it would be to keep the immobilizer. According to the forums here, it's just as simple as getting the key reprogrammed, but since the Accord key is from a different car, ChatGPT is telling me that I'll need to take an RSX ignition barrel, key, transponder chip and immobilizer ring and swap in into the car to keep immobilizer functionality.

So my question is, what is necessary to keep immobilizer functionality, and if I need to replace anything, how expensive roughly would it be (I live in Canada for context)

Before anyone says "just disable it and use kill switches", save your breath. I'm simply gathering information for me to make a decision.

Thanks!

I'm sorry, but the 2003 Accord is not supported. IF you attempt this there will be a number of things that do not work.
