EP3 K20 Swapped Mini low idle and stall

Post by Si_Hill »

Hi, I'm new to Honda's and KPro so go easy on me!
I have recently got a classic mini with a rear-engined EP3 K20 and a KPro ECU.

The engine cold starts and drives brilliantly, no complaints. The issues start once hot, either idling on the drive or every time you stop at a junction etc, the rpm drops low and the engine stalls.

I have removed and cleaned the IACV and now started changing the Idle Valve Duty Cycle Adjustment with the idle rpm set to 850. The engine now idles better on the driveway, it'll sit and idle without the rpm dropping as it was before and I can hold the rpm at say 2000 and let off and it drops to the 800's and keeps running, previously this was enough to stall. The Idle Valve Duty Cycle Adjustment slider is almost halfway between the middle and 'higher'.

I thought I'd solved it but as soon as I took it out on the road, the first junction I came to, put the car in neutral and the rpm dropped and it stalled :(

There is obviously more adjustment on the Idle Valve Duty Cycle but I don't know how far is safe to keep sliding it. I do have error codes P0135 & P0141 for the O2 sensors, although I only have 1 sensor. Closed Loop is disabled (Open Loop). TPS is 0.4 to 101.8% after calibrating. There's a good chance I haven't done the idle learn procedure properly as I've read different versions. I don't have an automatic cooling fan, it's on a switch.

Any help appreciated. I haven't figured out datalogging yet.

There isn't a safe range, it is there as a tool to make adjustments.
