K24 High Injector Pulse Width All the Time

Post by Mort »

Hi,

We have a K24 swapped Miata using a swap kit from Kpower. The kit included all the harnesses, Hondata modded ecu, intake, headers, etc. etc.

We've had the car running for a couple of days now and it seems to have been running pretty well. Today we drove it to a friends shop to set the ride height and on the way back it sputtered and died. (about a 4 mile trip).

I tried to start it a couple of times and it would only run with a bunch of throttle. It definitely seemed to be flooding. Unfortunately it was the first trip we had taken in it without logging.

We towed it back and tried to start it again. It started, but ran very, very rough and with a good bit of black smoke. I did log this and will attach those logs. Upon checking the logs I found that the Injector Pulse Width was steadily 19-23ms and didn't change with throttle position or rpm. I pulled the plugs and they were all very black with carbon.

The A/F ratio was around 10 until I was able to get the RPM up a bit then it went lean, again without the pw changing noticeably.

I had noticed on previous test drives that the pulse width seemed kinda high relative to the throttle being applied. (12-19ms range) I was on the verge of ordering the RDX injectors along with a Walbro 255 fuel pump when this happened.

Also, on the two previous test drives I saw that the short term fuel trim was having to add fuel at low rpm and subtract fuel at higher rpms. So it was definitely wanting to run a little rich at higher rpm.

We had a Dyno tune set up for next week, but I never saw anything in the logs that would pose a serious issue in my limited experience. It ran really well other than the small short term fuel trim adjustments afaik.

Actually there was another issue with it throwing a Knock Circuit malfunction code and Knock Control at 100%. Knock count is zero throughout with a new knock sensor.

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

,Jon

I just found that the Map Sensor is reading around 11psi steady. I guess this is probably the issue. About to replace the map sensor.

Problem solved. Short of an actual test drive everything seems good.
