Rev limit at Vtec
Re: Rev limit at Vtec
I have attached two config files that we tried as well as datalogs with their respective tunes
The difference between the config files is that we lowered the requirements for vtec and changed the rpm
We found that the "Rev limit" moved to wherever vtec was set at.
Please let me know if you have any questions
Thank you,

Re: Rev limit at Vtec
What coil on plug kit are you using?
Re: Rev limit at Vtec
This is a new kit from Digidizzy but the issues started before I installed this COP kit. The only reason I purchased and installed the cop kit was to rule out ignition / sensor related issues.
After replacing the stock dizzy with a digidizzy the issues persisted.

Re: Rev limit at Vtec
There is no rev limit in the datalog. You may just be getting a misfire, and it could be from the ignition system.
Re: Rev limit at Vtec
Sorry to try and revive this thread, but I have still been unable to get this fixed. I took apart the head today and inspected the entire valvetrain and ensured none of the rockers were stuck or jammed. I also ensured that there was sufficient oil pressure at the head when VTEC tries to engage.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Rev limit at Vtec
Have you tried your ECU in a known working vehicle using their calibration?
Re: Rev limit at Vtec
I have not been able to test my ECU in another car but I was able to test my calibrations with a different s300 and the same issue occurred.
Here is a video of a second gear pull with the car refusing to increase rpm/speed at the VTEC engagement point.

I also have uploaded the calibration file and log of that pull to this message.

Re: Rev limit at Vtec
It sounds like a grounding problem and it is grounding through the VTEC solenoid.
Re: Rev limit at Vtec
If that's the case do I need to add an additional ground near the block/ VTEC solenoid or is there a short in my wiring harness. This is a new rywire harness.
Re: Rev limit at Vtec
I would recommend that you contact Rywire about this.
Re: Rev limit at Vtec
Just to update the thread, the issue was related to using Tuner1 Cams with a Log Style manifold. Too much back pressure or something causing problems hitting VTEC. Switched to GSR cams and the issue was fixed.
Re: Rev limit at Vtec
I wonder if there was an issue that was corrected during removal/re-installation of the cams?
I am using GSR cams also, however. 👍

Re: Rev limit at Vtec
Highly doubt it, I had fully removed the head once, and re assembled the entire valve train twice when troubleshooting this before swapping cams.
Re: Rev limit at Vtec
Damn..that was alot of work. I bet it felt good after you fixed it, didnt it?😂
Next, get a tubular manifold, you will do a lot better!
Your bay is a thing of beauty, btw.

Re: Rev limit at Vtec
Yea it was a bit of a nightmare. The plan is to eventually get the Artec Manifold and a 3076. Thanks, honestly the bay is pretty trashed because I daily it :p
