USB port on FlashPro seems to have failed

Post by jeffx »

Yesterday I plugged my laptop into the flashpro in my FK8 and FlashPro Manager got stuck in that "not responding" mode for several minutes. As soon as I unplugged the flashpro from the USB port, FlashPro manager "woke up" and was again responsive.

So I disconnected the Flashpro from the OBD-II port in the car, disconnected it from the laptop, closed FlashPro manager, opened FlashPro manager, loaded my calibration and plugged everthing up. Same problem. So next, I removed the FlashPro device from device manager in windows, rebooted my laptop, plugged in the FlashPro and reinstalled the drivers. Then I opened FlashPro manager (with the FlashPro connected to the OBD-II and USB ports) and it seemed okay. That is, until I opened a calibration, at which point it went into the "not responding" mode again and would not exit that condition until I unplugged the USB cord from the FlashPro. I decided to try it with my newer laptop, and then one of my desktop computers and the same problem happened on those 2 as well.

I noticed that when I plug the FlashPro into my laptop while the FlashPro is connected to the ODB-II port, the red "USB" LED on the FlashPro is illuminated, and on the bottom status bar of FlashPro Manager on the laptop, the first 2 checkmarks (Driver and FlashPro) are green, but the OBD-II and ECU status indicators show red X's. If I plug the FlashPro while it's connected to the computer, the green power indicator on the FlashPro flickers dimly (or not at all) for a moment. The red LED indicator for USB status never illuminates. On Flashpro Manager status bar, all 4 indicators show red X's and this warning window pops up on the screen.

I have a USB analyzer which shows voltage and current/wattage, etc. When I plug my FK8 FlashPro into that it shows 0A current draw, and 0W, which tells me something is wrong with the USB on this FlashPro.

When the FlashPro is connected to the car, it seems to be powering up normally and I can start and stop datalogging with the hardware button on the FlashPro. I can also connect to it via the Hondata dash app in my car over bluetooth and see the data provided there.

I have several other FlashPros for our other vehicles and these all work fine on the same 3 computers. When I plug those in, the current draw is about 90-100ma with roughly 0.5w of power.

What is the FlashPro serial number?

From Help, About what is the version of software you are using?
