Basemap tune throwing p0171

Post by tgd360 »

I was running the stock tuned for a couple of days and no issue but I do have a CAI and exhaust with cat back when I tried one of those the car ran amazing but now it's throwing a P0171 code? Any ideas? I'd like to use that one as the car runs and drives amazingly

If you are getting that error it is running too lean and probably has really high fuel trims. You probably need to tune the AFM for the intake you have.

Sorry I'm still super new to doing any of this but wouldn't running lean mean too much air not enough gas?

This is the data log I had running for about 20 or so minutes on the stock, tuned based like i said i do have a drop in high flow air filter and a exhaust with catback exhaust. But when selecting that i started throwing a lean code should i just stick with a stock tuned tune until i can learn a little bit more about tuning?

Stick to whatever is not causing issues until you learn what changes need to be made.

Something is very wrong - it could be the fuel pressure being low or the AFM is faulty but since you have put on a CAI I would uninstall it. Trims are over 50%. I'd park the car until you can fix it.

Someone gave me the new kit and i used to have a k&n filter on it could that possibly be the issue it does look like a cheapy air filter. (Edit if I blow on the filter in there the engine starts to run rough for half a second.)

Could it be that its just some cheap air filter that is letting in to much air and its causing that lean code?

Or Could be it be the basemap tune im using I guess i got ahead of myself and downloaded the stock tuned before i knew if that was a good idea or not.

If blowing on the intake is causing it to run differently, then there is a problem with the intake. I would recommend using the OEM intake instead.

Blowing on the actual air filter itself not the intake sorry for not specifying. Just confirmed no vacuum leaks either.

OK so i just realized all the tunes available to select on the hondata are pretty much the same no matter what sooooo as previously stated i am new to this and did not realize these were not set to go tunes and they needed to cahange the calibrations because all i did was upload the stock, tuned and change the idle up to 850 and the vtech parameters. Apologies to everyone that tried to help i unfortunately do not know what i am doing.

The Hondata calibration are designed to be drivable. There are so many combination of parts so it not possible for them to have a calibration for each combination.

One of the mods that will affect the tune the most is the intake. If you install your stock I take back on the car should not run as rough. Is you’re trying to learn to tune I suggest you do some reading and dial in the car with the exhaust. After you get a better understanding install the intake. Look up some video on YouTube.
