After trying everything I got an automotive electrician who found a fault in my stock engine loom. The junction block had a wire that was supposed to get 12V but it wasn't receiving anything. Once two wires were joined the engine light appeared on the dash and the ECU recognised the ignition, a picture of which wires are attached. Another issue was my fuel pump wire not receiving any power, this turned out to be a simple fix. The fuel pump kill switch was activated most likely due to me pressing it or turning the unit upside down, this is usually in the opposite direction to where the main relay is. You should see two yellow wires, one with a green line and one with a red line. If it's been engaged then press down on the top of the switch to deactivate it. Now the engine runs and the ECU responds to the car, I thought that anyone with the same problem might find this useful.
