FK8 Pops & Bangs Help & Questions

Post by amsfoto »

First off, thank you for listening to everyone wanting this feature on the FK8! It's been fun to play with & experiment. You really weren't kidding when you made the note about increased fuel consumption, I've never seen my fuel gauge drop this fast haha.

I've been playing with settings for a few days & had some questions based on behavior I've noticed;
  • Is there a minimum duration? I know for Stage 2 the default is 2000ms & for Stage 1 the delay is 1000ms, is there a way to set it under one second for just one or two burbles/a much shorter & natural duration right off throttle? I tried 600 and 800ms, though it seems like it stays active longer regardless of these sub 1000ms settings.
  • I noticed that even with Rev Hang disabled, it seems to always be on when Pops & Bangs is enabled, no matter the settings or drive mode. Is there a way to keep Rev Hang disabled & use this feature? I find that between the feeling of timing retardation then the rev hang, it just feels very sluggish & unnatural right off throttle.
  • I noticed that some figures auto change when submitted, for instance, I tried to do a 16.75 in Sport and 9.75 in +R, yet when submitting the Sport figures they auto changed to 16.50. Is there a list of figures that would work or some rule to this?
I ended up keeping the Pops & Bangs enabled tune as a secondary calibration to upload from my FlashPro if I want due to how odd it feels to me and the rev hang vs what I'm used to without Rev Hang & Pops/Bangs. If rev hang is a requirement for Pops & Bangs I definitely understand, just wanted to ask & make sure it's not a bug or something. Thanks in advance.

It should have minimal effect on fuel consumption.

Rev hang is when the ECU keeps the throttle open on deceleration for a time period. It is very similar to pops and bangs so you can't have one without the other.

Bosch stores the ignition timing as 0.75 degrees so some values are not possible and you will see rounding.

I noticed recently that the pops and bangs on my FL5 stopped working after my gas gauge dipped below half a tank, is this normal and or on purpose?
