I just got a new laptop running Windows 11 pro. I have downloaded the latest version of SManager and get a message as follows "SManagerV2-8-7 isn't commonly downloaded. Make sure you trust SManagerV2-8-7.exe before you open it."
The file that my laptop has downloaded is named "Unconfirmed 82058.crdownload" which I now understand to a identify a temporary file created by Google Chrome when a download is started. The term CRDOWNLOAD stands for "Chrome Download". The file acts as a temporary storage space for the requested file's data as it streams from the server. Once the download is complete, Chrome is supposed to rename the file to its intended file name and extension, which I guess in this case would be .exe.
Is there some setting I need to change on my laptop? Something in the firewall? I tried changing a couple of settings but no luck.
Can't download SManagerV2-8-7
Re: Can't download SManagerV2-8-7
You must bypass all the warnings and insist that you truly want to download the file and it should be available once it finishes downloading.
Re: Can't download SManagerV2-8-7
It doesn't give me any warnings along the way. It just downloads the .crdownload file and that's it.
Re: Can't download SManagerV2-8-7
FWIW, I just downloaded a driver for my Epson printer and that worked fine.
Re: Can't download SManagerV2-8-7
You have to say that you want to keep the file even though it thinks it may harm your computer.
Re: Can't download SManagerV2-8-7
I was able to install it. Your comment about saying you want to "Keep" the file was the key. Thanks.
