Helping with a buddies S2k he previous got tuned, its stock Ap1 with bigger gt35 turbo, bigger injectors etc. Was tuned elsewhere but he originally had hesitation which turned out to be incorrect acceleration enrichment which i fixed but car runs fine he's now wanting to run a little more boost now 17 from 14psi.
Next issue is knock control which i think is incorrectly setup?, it was tuned on dyno with no apparent knock (ignition timing looks conservative) but logs is reporting knock and retard. I plan to remove a couple of degrees timing as a test but i dont think it will make any difference, my questions are:
1. Has the stock knock cal been altered at all? e.g sensitivity etc?
2. Looking at the attached log screenshot and section highlighted (you can see knock retard @7 deg and knock counts @121), does the ECU think its actually knocking (in reality it might not be) and thus pulling 7deg of timing from the ignition high map (set at 14.9)?
2b. if knock controlled was switched off then it would not pull timing
3. Lastly is it AF corrected that should be used to tune the car? matches stock wideband the best?
Car made decent power but point 2 if being used it shouldn't really due far from optimal ignition timing.
Thanks

Re: Knock control
You need to start by reducing timing in the areas you are getting knock. See what effect that has.
You should just use AF, as AF corrected is not applicable to the S2000

Re: Knock control
Thanks for reply, even if I do that and the end result is the same. Does it mean it's pulling timing as per question 2? I'm still not clear sorry
Re: Knock control
Do you get less knock when you reduce the timing in the areas you see knock?
