Rpm in datalog doesn't record above 4k-4500 rpm

Post by Dannyboy515 »

Hey guys. Fairly new to hondata, so possibly user error here, not sure.

Ek with z6 turbo.
Everything has been working fine with the s300 until today when I headed out for my first set of pulls to dial in boost portion of maps.

Everything in datalog appears to be correct except rpm.
I Rev out to 6k, 7k doesn't matter, the datalog shows it revving to about 4k, when it's actually at 6k-7k.
The log shows the steady increase in rpm, but the actual rpm value is incorrect.
So it will shows for example, a pull from 2k to 4800 when in actuality the pull is from 2k to 7k.

As a result, it is showing that I am barely crossing into vtec, and therefore I can't tell if it is switching to my high cam map. The lambda values will populate in the tables, but only to about 5k as well, in either high or low cam maps

Tach in cluster works fine.
Is there something in the s300 I should check?

Are you datalogging in the software or are you using onboard datalogging?

Datalog in smanager.

I have been looking into the honda working, trying to figure out if there's a prob there.

It's z6 with obd1 distributor and jumper on dizzy and ecu.

Have you tried your ECU on a known working vehicle?

I havent myself. The shop that I ordered my hondata thru, does a test before they send them out. I spoke to them, they said they aren't sure where the problem may be coming from off top of their head, but that the ecu was tested on a known working vehicle before I got it.
The owner of the shop has a d16 civic so he tests out the ecus before when they come in and after it's installed. That's not to say he would've been looking for this specific problem.

I had another ditributor I grabbed from a friend, although it is still a cheaper aftermarket dist, it was new in the box.

Still same problem. Although now when I Rev to 7k, it reads to about 5300-5800 range.

Thought maybe it was the cheapo Amazon dist I had.

You should try the ECU on a known working vehicle first.
