2014 Si Coupe

Post by PaZoZo »

Hey guys, I’m posting here today in search of help or advice. I absolutely love my car, love driving it and love experimenting with the tunes. I know at some point I should get a custom tune but I’ve only had the car for a month and haven’t built up to that yet. In the mean time I’ve been browsing through the community and trying tunes I felt were close to my completely stock 14 Si. Somewhere along the line I must’ve flashed it with a bad tune as I’ve started to notice a large amount of knocks. Wasn’t even sure what it was at first, I first thought it was in need of engine oil. Which it was, so I topped it off and still noticed the knocking. Secondly I thought maybe it’s because of the low 87 octane fuel that I foolishly filled the tank with. Which may indeed still be the issue, as I read that the engine may run sluggish because of that. But my gut is telling me I put a tune on my baby that she doesn’t agree with. Basically, if at all possible, all I really want is smooth low end power, not weak like stock, and strong mid to high end power. I am completely stock, haven’t added anything yet, but definitely plan on it in the near future. Any help, any tunes, anything to get rid of this knocking and get me on the right track, would be tremendously appreciated.
Thank you for taking the time to read this

Welcome to the forum,

I suggest you use a calibration file that is close to your modifications. Post the calibration you are running and a datalog. I can look it over and make sure it's running safe.

Sounds good, I’m currently at the hospital welcoming my new born son into the world but as soon as I can get over to my car I will send it off my laptop. Also bumped into a fellow enthusiast that recommended ktuner over Hondata, just curious as to your thoughts on that?

Congrats on the newborn. I can’t give you any thoughts on Ktuner as I have not used it. In order for me to gain access to the software I need to buy their hardware. I’m sure both softwares do the same. I suggest you go with what your tuner is most comfortable with unless you’re self tuning. The one thing I know people like about k tuner is the gauges you can use on the display.

I decided to stick with the Hondata. So today I installed a Spectre air intake, I’m trying to find a new tune I can start with and build from. Not too sure which of the base maps I should try, hoping you can point me in the right direction. Car is completely stock, only new addition is the Spectre intake.
Thank you
