Low/High Boost Control w/ 93 Pump & e85

Post by WestminsterClub »

I'm not a tuner but a car owner and basic knowledge of Kpro for my 05 s2000. I'm planning to have my car retuned, I have moved to a different climate area.

What I am looking to do is run 93 & e85 being able to use low and high boost tables/switch.

Using the attached pictures to explain.

My understanding of the hierarchy.
When running 93, on low boost setting. Boost will target 0
When running 93, on high boost setting. Boost will target whatever value in the high boost table 21-26 in gears 1-4.
When running e85, on low boost setting. Boost will target 0? or will it always add a multiplier to it. It is set to zero so shouldn't correct?
When running e85, on high boost setting. Boost will target 41-52 theoretically but will not since I have the Hot Boost Cut at 28.

I reached my post edit limits

My understanding of the hierarchy.
1. When running 93, on low boost setting. Boost will target 0
2. When running 93, on high boost setting. Boost will target whatever value in the high boost table 21-26 in gears 1-4.
3. When running e85, on low boost setting. Boost will target 0? or will it always add a multiplier to it from the flex fuel compensation tab. It is set to 0 so shouldn't target that? Also anything multiple by 0 is 0.
4. When running e85, on high boost setting. Boost will target 41-52 theoretically but will not since I have the Hot Boost Cut at 28. Yes the boost compensation values should be lowered so I am not solely replying on the boost cut to control.

Lastly, the process for tuning this would be first tune on 93 get the fuel & timing good etc. Then next get the ethanol content up to e85 adjust the flex fuel compensation tab.

Here is the explanation I received from a well respected tuner with a lot knowledge.

You won’t be able to do a low / high boost and flex fuel together. The flex fuel boost logic works based on a 0-100% scale. 0% in the flex fuel boost compensation uses 100% of the low boost by gear table. 100% in the flex fuel boost compensation uses 100% of the high boost by gear table. The intention is that you sort out the desired boost by gear profile for petrol in the low boost table and the high boost table is used for high ethanol content fuel.

You would tune on 93 octane and get everything sorted out 100%. Then switch to ethanol and only touch the ethanol compensation table area for dialing in fuel, spark, boost.
