S300 Ongoing issues

Post by kraquepype »

Hi,

This is a followup to this thread: viewtopic.php?t=25009

I've been trying to address issues with my s300 module, but recently I had issues with warm starts. I tracked it down to a weak AGM battery, and was able to recondition it and resolve the voltage drop. Warm starts kick over almost immediately now.

Today I went out to start it, and it had a very rough cold start and several errors in the logging output.

1) Idle would not increase on it's own, I had to hold the throttle slightly to get it going. I'd like to know if there is a setting to assist in getting the RPM up at cold start, as even for a "normal" cold start for me, the RPM takes about 20s to start rising.
2) Error codes were encountered - they show up in the errors tab if you navigate the graph to the crazy sensor readings.
3) In the datalog, knock signals were reported even though I have no knock board (p28 ECU)
4) Sensor readings were all over the place
5) VTS (VTEC) also registered as on for a few seconds, which I hope is not true.

Can someone review my calibration and logs to make sense of what the heck is going on with my S300? 95% of the time the car drives and starts, but sometimes I get a cold start like this, and also warm starts that throw errors and crazy sensor readings.

Attached are logs of the cold start, a log of errors before I even attempted to start, and the current calibration.

Thanks

Did you ever send this in with the RMA you were given?

No, I wanted to rule out any electrical issues.

If that is the next step I'll be sending it in; Should the same RMA# work?

Well it looks like the battery was still having an issue. I experienced the voltage drop again, and dodgy starting. I've swapped out the AGM battery for a standard one and it starts up on the first crank, even cold. Have not experienced the bugging out yet either on the standard battery, but am watching for it.

What I've noticed and would like to fix is that the idle at cold start is very low and rough, fluctuating, for about 15-30 seconds and then it slowly rises and evens out. This low idle sounds awful and I'd really like it to start up like a stock engine - immediate kick over and ~2k rev, with a slow decrease in rev until warm.

In the logs I noticed that the injector duration at startup fluctuates, along with idle but am unsure what to make of it. I've attached logs, and the calibration is the same one already uploaded.

I've got the startup idle fixed for the most part, I had to re-set my idle and tune my IACV duty cycle.

Now, if it's around 45* outside, it will kick over and idle where it needs to be like normal.

Issue now is if it's under 40*, it will kick over but idle at around 1000 and slowly build up to the desired RPM. I don't know if this is a matter of not enough or too much startup fueling or ignition advance.

Solved my issues by replacing the main power wire - see my other post

There was a voltage drop at startup, causing the S300v3 to bug out. I'll datalog to see if I still have any of the weird values above, but I think it's resolved.
