False readings from all sensors in KPRO. Car won't run.

Post by BStanley346 »

2001 Honda Insight 5mt
- serial number of your K-Pro: 55307
- version of software being used: boot firmware v 2; main firmware v 16.00
- ECU part number: 37820-PND-A01
- ECU serial number: 2062-101144
- KManager version: 4.4.4.0 build 1669
- Mods: K24A2 and 6MT from a 2004 Acura TSX, Base RSX engine and charge harness, Chassis harness adapter from CJs, RSX-S Wideband O2 sensor.
- K-pro was received 10/2020 and was purchased through K-Series Parts

- k-pro states ecu type of PRB - US RSX Type S, is that an issue since this is a PND ECU?

The Problem:
After plugging everything in I am able to connect to the kpro via Bluetooth or USB. When I go to datalog every sensor is giving bogus values. MAP is at 302.1psi, rpm jumps all over the place in the tables screen and reads a constant 5400rpm in the sensors screen. VSS is reading at 52mph even though it is on jack stands and won't run. ac compressor and radiator fans run constantly. When I go to upload a calibration it fails every time.
I do have an EP3 Si as well so I plugged the ECU into it and everything worked perfectly. I was able to open up a calibration, upload it, and run the car off of it. This leads me to believe that the issue is in the engine wiring harness, maybe a short? I am just wondering if anyone has seen something similar to this before and can point me in the right direction.

Based on what you have said, you have a wiring issue. I cannot tell you where the issue is, but something is wrong in the wiring.

Thanks for the input, I have come to the same conclusion. I ordered a new k-tuned harness yesterday in the hopes that it remedies the issue.

Did a new harness resolve your issue ?

It did not. I ended up making my own conversion harness from the Hondata schematic and the Insight Electrical wiring diagram and that did the trick. The issue I was having was definitely in the conversion harness.

Bstanley how did you go about doing that process? My s300v3 is doing the same thing brand new carrotoptuning subharness and engine harness map is reading 44.5psi at 180rpm while engine is off. Tried it in my bone stock 92 accord and it’s doing the same thing.

It was honestly a ton of work. I had the electronic schematics for the entire car along with the Kpro wiring requirements and I just started looking for valid sources for each of the required circuits. That let me get the engine running, and from there I had to start tracing down all of the other issues. I would recommend tracking down a copy of the Honda Electrical Troubleshooting manual for your chassis and go from there.
