Fuel System Running Rich code P0172
Fuel System Running Rich code P0172
Hello,
My car keeps giving me a P0172 code. I’ve tried a couple different base maps such as factory settings and hondata reflash, but no matter what I keep getting the P0172 code. I’ve also tried cleaning my MAF, which didn’t do anything. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you!

What modifications have been done to the vehicle?

I have a K&N SRI and Invidia N1 catback.
Re: Fuel System Running Rich code P0172
You will need to either adjust the AFM calibration or you will have to tune via MAP based tables to lean it out where it is too rich.
Re: Fuel System Running Rich code P0172
To be honest, I don’t know much about tuning. I wouldn’t wanna improperly do it and have my car run poor, or unsafely. Do you have any advice or suggestions?Spunkster wrote: Thu Nov 09, 2023 3:35 pm You will need to either adjust the AFM calibration or you will have to tune via MAP based tables to lean it out where it is too rich.

I would recommend that you find a tuner to help you with this if you do not want to do it yourself.

Welcome to the forum.
Post the calibration and a datalog of normal driving. I can take a look at it.

I think I might have fixed the issue as the code went away. This has happened before though and it ended up coming back a bit later on. If the code reappears can I shoot you a PM? Thank you for your reply, I appreciate it :)CalibratEd wrote: Sun Nov 12, 2023 8:13 pm Welcome to the forum.

Cleaning my MAF again seems to have gotten rid of the code. I don’t think I cleaned it well enough the first time I tried. Anyway, I have encountered this problem before. Cleaning the sensor seemed to fix the issue, but a couple months later it came back. It seems unlikely the sensor would get dirty that quickly unless my air filter was over oiled, which it is not. I’m thinking since it seems to be a reoccurring thing there is an issue. I’ll send my data log file tomorrow. Thank you for offering to look at it and help me out!

I am currently on the factory settings calibration because it seems to run smoother than the reflash.CalibratEd wrote: Sun Nov 12, 2023 8:13 pm Welcome to the forum.

The car is running rich. The MAF table needs to be adjusted. Ideally when you change the intake you should switch it to run on speed density.

Thank you for your help!! Running off speed density is using the MAP sensor instead of the MAF correct? Sorry I’m a noob when it comes to this stuff.CalibratEd wrote: Wed Nov 15, 2023 10:11 pm The car is running rich. The MAF table needs to be adjusted. Yes that is correct. You would be running on the MAP sensor and not the MAF. You would then have to dial in all the fuel tables.dchris4 wrote: Thu Nov 16, 2023 5:10 pmThank you for your help!!
