9th gen si - running too rich

Post by braheemo »

I recently picked up a hondata for my 2013 civic si, the only mods I’ve installed that are engine wise is a short ram intake by k&N. I’ve installed the oem+ tune just to get a bit more performance out of my car but I’ve been getting a check engine light for running too rich. What should I do? Any pro tuners out there that can help me out? Thanks.

Welcome to the forum,

Any base calibration you run will need to be adjusted. I can take a look at it and help you make it run safe.

Hey CalibratEd, sorry for replying late, I have attached the calibrations below. if you need anything else just let me know. Just a reminder, I'm on 91 octane and besides stock, I only have a typhoon short ram intake.

Post a normal drive datalog of the car as well.

I did some normal driving with a few pulls, I did notice the car kind of tugs around 4k rpm, overall hasn't been to smooth with me

The MAF table needs to be adjusted. The car is running very rich. Around 5,000rpm you are maxing out your injectors. Once you make the adjustments the car should be good to normal drive. Ideally when you switch the intake you should switch the car to run on speed density.

I adjusted the MAF curve. Create another. I want to see if the changed were effective.

I made some more MAF adjustments. My previous adjustments leaned it out a bit. Create another log.

this calibration is a bit off, it just stops reading the afr after a certain rpm.

The AFR is looking way better. I made a another adjustment down low and adjusted timing as it had a few counts of knock. I don't see any issues regarding the AFR. What you might be seeing is the injectors cutting off when you let off the throttle. Create another log.

You should be ok to normal drive the car. Its no longer running as rich as it was. I would not drive the car too hard until you get it properly tuned. These cars need to run in speed density when you upgrade the intake. My contact info is in the calibration. Feel free to reach out for a tune if you don't already have a tuner.
