Locked ECU, no Flashpro.

Post by Water »

Background: I am doing some mechanical work on an SI for someone I know personally and the owner bought the vehicle but has no idea about vehicles whatsoever. It is NOT stock at all but it is tuned, I know it’s not on KTuner because there is active launch control on the vehicle, and I am sure this isn’t offered for the 2015 9th gen SI using that tuning platform.

Question: In the even that I bought an SI for myself (as the person did) and I had a locked ecu but no matching Flashpro unit, what conditions must be met for you guys to return the ecu to stock and unlock it without the Flashpro? - Is this possible? I am aware you need BOTH ECU and Flashpro to unlock a Flashpro, but what about just the ecu? I am asking out of curiosity, not because I need this done…. For now.

I searched forums and other websites before coming here, this question seems to not exist.

You would need to purchase a FlashPro in order to make any changes to the ECU.

Alright, so since the ecu is locked to a different Flashpro, I would then have to purchase an additional Flashpro (that is not locked ofc) and then I would be able to revert the married ecu back to factory on my own? Or would I have to send in both units so you guys can properly do everything?

You should be able to do this yourself once you have the FlashPro.
