Need pump gas tune SUPER noob PLEASE HELP! K24 swap RUNNING LEAN

Post by CIvic_98 »

Hello i am super new to the tuning community i love cars ive been blessed with a 98 civic ek with a k24a swap. Car came from down south, im assuming because the change in temp my car is running lean the afr stays around 17-18. I have the hondata app on my phone the app states i have timing advance of 16 deg. Knock control is 99 percent. I went inside the ecu just to have a look. My fuel trim is at 36 percent and i have 1 percent fuel trim at cylinders 1 and 2. My car does not sound good at all at start up assuming because i live in a much colder state compared to where the car comes from. The injectors are 310cc according to kmanager i have e85 gas now and i am trying to get rid of it and change it back to pump gas so i can just daily drive and enjoy it. Rbc intake manifold 4-2-1 headers not sure if that matters
Been doing so much hours of review im scared to change anything myself just trying to upload a tune. I tried downloading my current tune it says calibration is from an older version
Please help any help is GREATLY appreciated been stressed! Any other questions you have please ask i want a regular pump gas tune and my car not to run so lean :(

Drain the e85 and run the stock tsx calibration. Post the calibration file and datalog. I can take a look at it.

Forgive my rookie questions, i want to choose the correct one and not mess anything up for the tsx calibration that you told me to choose is that the one listed as "tsx 04-05 hytech header and exhause high flow cat" with the 310 injectors or the one listed under other vehicles thats named "K24 Tsx completely stock needes checking at partial throttle for a/f rations" with 310 injectors. Also ive never datalogged before so any spefics in terms of pulls, or how long you want me to datalog for. Last time i checked the notes and injectors page it stated it was on a 91 tune but the guy who dropped it off said it is taking E85. The injectors were stated as 310 not sure if that is also true
(car list)
5spd lsd transmission
RBc Intake manifold
4-2-1 headers
3inc exhaust ktuned muffler
AEM wideband

The tune should be at the bottom of the list its labeled "tsx-04-05 stock".

You need this as a start for the regular fuel calibration you said you needed. Thus why you were draining the e85. If the guy you got the car from says it runs e85 then it should have been tuned for it.

If you have a calibration that is already on the car i can take a look that at as well if needed. It all depends what your goal is.

When datalogging just create a normal drive log do not do any wide open throttle pulls. Log for about 5-10 minutes.

If possible and not to much to ask for i would like to have a E85 calibration on hand as well as a pump gas calibration so i can upload whenever i choose to switch i don't have a data log for the current calibration but here is the calibration that is currently on the car. Thanks in advance!

I can help with getting the car to run with the regular fuel calibration. If you want multiple calibrations I suggest you reach out to tuner. If you plan to switch between fuels I suggest you install a flexfuel sensor. This would require one tune and adjustment of the flexfuel tables. This will allow you to switch between fuels without having to drain the tank.

I looked over the calibration and a seems like its a basic basemap with +36 overall fuel trims. The car is also running in openloop so the o2 is not being used to adjust the fueling during closed loop. This might have been just a basemap to get the car running. E85 would probably max out the stock injectors thus why many people switch to RDX 410cc injectors for NA E85 setups.

Will definitely look into the flex fuel, appreciate it planning to drain the gas out most likely today and will have the datalogs ready for you by tomorrow latest.
When you say i would need a tuner do you mean a tuner that has a dyno or a regular tuner that is willing to continue to work on my car.

Sounds good. When I mean reach out to a tuner is any tuner whether that is a dyno tuner or Etuner. Someone that can continue the tune in more depth especially since you were interested in two calibrations. No one will take the time to create you two calibrations without compensation as it takes revisions to dial the car in. I help out by making sure the car is running safe and I don’t mind helping out with 1 calibration. Beyond that you need a more in-depth tune to make power.
