k24a2 Honjetta

Post by basshunterk24 »

Hi there
new to Hondata
I have put a 2006 TSX k24a2 engine into my 1990 vw Jetta almost stock other than 70 mm throttle body with cone air filter I haven't been able to get it out on the road yet as waiting for driveshafts (should be here in couple days ) but I got it started but the idle doesn't want to settle here is my data log
jetta k24 stock map-230803-000.kdl
stock map.kdl
I'm using the k24-tsx-stock.kal map with stuff I don't have disabled as I was told from the place I got kpro from is there something I'm missing
please help
many thanks

Welcome to the forum,

K swapped cars are always a fun project. Post the Calibration file you are using and I can take a look at it. The idle issue could be a simple vacuum leak.

I looked over the log. The car is running lean and i see the fluctuation at idle. Double check the throttle body install didn't cause any vacuum leaks.

Yes I checked the throttle body and vacuum lines last night think I need a new idle air control valve stuck open
I assume I could block off the ports on my k tuned throttle body and disable the iacv in kpro to try
Would it run better than it does now?
What would it run like without iacv? 🤔

Yes it would run better if you block off the IACV. You would have to adjust the idle screw if the idle is too low. Many people run without an IACV.

Awesome I have tried it now with IACV blocked off and disabled idle sits a little high but could you have a look at the data log and see if you see anything abnormal
stock map without iacv.kdl
i will get another data log once I get it out of the garage and out for a drive probably tomorrow

many many thanks for your help

The car is idling better. I don't see any fluctuation. The idle is a little high so you can lower it a bit by the idle screw. Once that is set make sure to calibrate your TPS. The log shows it as 1% when it should ready 0%.

Also, make sure to dial in the fuel as its running lean.

Review the logs and you will areas where the car is lean and rich. Adjust the fuel in those tables accordingly. If you're a DIYer Evans tuning has some basic videos on YouTube on how to make fuel adjustments.

Sucks to hear about the axle but that the process of building a car lol

The car looks pretty cool I like custom builds like this.

yep for sure iv built a few cars when I lived in the UK but they have always been Hondas with D or B series never played with k or hondata my favourite 2 that i built in the UK was my civics my EF with d16 with twin carbs and vtec on a switch and my 3rd gen GT with a d16 non vtec
this jetta has been a complete learning curve from fitting the damn engine in the car in the first place right up to now tuning on hondata which is pretty cool 😎 this build started as a bet from a friend in the uk as I couldn't find a replacement transmission here in Canada close to me lol

Nice. I remember one of the first cars I tuned was a turbo D16 using CROME. Since then I have tuned several k swapped cars. It amazes me the types of cars people k swap.
