Always good to remove R136 and R138?

Post by JDM_Ego »

Title basically says it all. I have an S300 and will be running a B20V. I run a wideband and I have power from the fuse box and ground against the chassis and want to wire signal into D14 or D10 but my resistors aren’t cut. I don’t have a problem cutting them but as of now I haven’t run into an issue where D14 won’t work so not sure if I should see how D14 works first or jump right to cutting. What exactly am I losing by cutting those resistors?

QUICK UPDATE: I just realized I failed to mention and take into acccount it’s an OBD2A harness out of a 96-98 civic and I use a jumper to plug into my p28 S300. So basically, should I go right to cutting the resistors and going into the ELD pin (I believe D16 on my harness) or try the primary O2 sensor pin (D7)?

You need to remove them if you want the full 0-5v input. If you dont it will limit the high and low v. If your wideband is 10 A/F at 0 v and 20 at 5v it would limit it to only being able to read from 12.5-16 A/F. Using D14 will do the same thing. Using D10 gives you a full 0-5v.

If that’s the case I might just cut them and use D10 from the start. Would you happen to know what those traitors are for exactly? Like what am I technically losing by cutting those?

You are not loosing anything. It just allows D10 to see the full voltage range. You should not use D14.

Actually I do have one more question. Since I’m OBD2A with an obd1 jumper harness it looks like I go into D16 on my harness. Am I removing the existing pin and only running my wideband to it or am I splicing my wideband wire into the existing d16 wire and having both go to D16 pin?

The wire cannot be connected to the original location. Only the wideband input can be connected.
